My name is Jennifer A. Valencia and I'm a freelance editor and writer. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from St. Scholastica's College and have always had a love affair with words, both written and spoken, but there's something about the former that has consistently called to me and I'm happy to be able to pursue a vocation I'm passionate about.
Previously, I was a preschool teacher for seven years and an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for another three. Some of the years I didn't spend teaching were spent ghostwriting online articles for various websites and academic papers, which included researching the assigned topics, for high school and college students.
In the editorial field, I was a copy editor for a travel magazine called tsuper (Travel Super) before entering the world of freelance editing. The most recent published books that I was privileged to edit are Rising Higher and its companion publication, Rising Higher Success Playbook, both by professional basketball player Kelly Williams.
I'm a very hands-on editor and I want my relationships with my clients to be interactive. For clients to have the best possible end product, we need to keep our lines of communication open so that we can both be receptive to one another's ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticism. Together, we can create something that we can both be proud of.
